Tools needed
- Screwdriver set
- Stiff wire bristle brush
- Vacuum
Materials needed
- Professional silicone lubricant spray
- Replacement sliding door roller wheels (if worn)
Step-by-step
- 1
Vacuum the track, then scrub out grit with a stiff wire brush.
- 2
Locate the adjustment screws at the bottom edge of the door.
- 3
Lift the door off its track if the rollers need replacing, and swap them.
- 4
Spray silicone lubricant along the track and rollers (avoid oily grease that attracts dirt).
- 5
Reseat the door and fine-tune the height screws until it glides and latches evenly.
Common mistakes
- • Using petroleum grease that collects dirt and gums the track
- • Forcing a stuck door and bending the track
Maintenance & next steps
Vacuum the track and reapply silicone a couple of times a year.
